Manyanggar

Traditional rituals that often related with applications for permission to Gods or ancestors of indigenous peoples prior to production cycle such as forests land clearing for fields, In Pilang Village’s indigenous peoples, District Jambiren Raya, Pulang Pisau, Central Kalimantan, this ritual well known as Ngariyau and Manyanggar.

Ngariyau, ritual applications for permission to open a wide field between 5-10 hectares. While Manyanggar, ritual applications for permission to open new land with an area of more than 11 hectares. Ngariyau is enough fulfilled to sacrifice a chicken, while Manyanggar people have to sacrifice a pig or a cow as a symbol of sacrifice for the ancestors of indigenous people (the public) in the region of Central Kalimantan’s peat swamp.

“Ngariyau and Manyanggar ceremony held at open fields. The ceremony is held in order to move the spirits within the field location,”said Jamal, chairman of the parent group of candidates HKM (Forest) in Town Hall pilang, Pulang knife, during the identification and preparation of HKm proposals meeting which are mediated by YCI (15/3 ).

It is not just a matter of ritual applications for permission to open the field, generally indigenous peoples in the Pulang Pisau also have a ritual during the fields harvest season arrives. At present the influence of foreign religions adhered to indigenous peoples such as the local religion ie; Islam and Christianity, in the harvest season people is usually performed community’s gratitude ceremony, spare the rice for zakat (Islam), and perpolohon (Christians).

in Pilang Village, currently they are 3 existing citizen groups who are preparing proposals to obtain a permit and recognition area for HKM. Namely, the Handil Batu Group in 340 ha of area, Tamua River Group (400 ha), and Gantalang Group for 400 ha of area. (tjong)
